I was searching through the cable television on Tuesday 24th April 2018 for current political news when a caption caught my attention on TVC channel, the caption was “Documentary”. I love documentary a whole lot and this made me hold on to see what the documentary was all about and it turned out to be an inspirational and very informative one on a certain “Grass to Grace story of a Bariga youth for Development. This caught my attention particularly the aspect describing how the Founder and Creative Director of the Art group do assist the destitute and disadvantaged people in his community – Bariga in Lagos by teaching them how to dance act and sing as well as using their talents positively not only in Nigeria but across the globe.
As a caring organisation to her employees, eHealth Africa (eHA) Nigeria, conducted a 2-day programme on the 5th and 6th April 2018 tagged Dieting Thursday and Wellness Friday in commemoration of the 2018 world health day. Water is life, we need it in Nigeria. as most residents even within the cities do not have water supply not to talk of rural settlements. Ministry of Water Resources in Nigeria stand up Please!
I came across an article on “NGO maps out entire Liberia and brings clean water to every single resident” Nigeria is said to be the giant of Africa, if a country like Liberia can do this, why can’t we do same because we have an organisation here in Nigeria that has all the resources to enable our “CHANGE government” achieve this. eHealth Africa has helped us in different areas that have to do with reaching the last miles, last settlement last child, last household in the areas of maternal health care and mapping, they also helped during the Ebola outbreak to speedily control the virus which would have claimed lots of lives. I humbly plead with our government of the day to engage the services of this said organisation, not just attempting or approaching to do same as Liberia but getting good hands to make it achievable, It is assured that eHealth Africa would do it successfully and satisfactorily considering their achievements in the past..
Our Honourable Minister of Water Resources in Nigeria, Sir if this would be the only achievement by APC, which is “water for all”, it would be a generational history just as mobile phone usage is, for the administration of Former President Obasanjo. PLEASE LET THERE BE WATER FOR ALL.
We have always been concerned with our youths and children at all times, have we ever so cared for our old ones? We have so many books on how we can handle our children and teenagers but we do have much on how to handle our Older ones. We need books on this and also need many on how we should behave when we are old especially in our African settings. Let us all always have it at the back of our minds that sooner or later we will grow old feeble and grey what are those things we ought to do and how do we go about them.
These and more in my next write up, WATCH OUT for it!
in recent times, ‘Soap Operas’ are been referred to as Series film or movies. I often wondered what happened to those old series like;
- Cockcrow at dawn
- Village HeadMaster
- Second Chance
- Bassey and Company
- mind your language (foreign)
- Mr Matlock (foreign)
- Third eye
- Mind bending
- Behind the Cloud
- Mirror in the Sun
- Checkmate etc
I know some few years back, ‘The new Masquerade’ was still shown on NTA but how about the ones mentioned above, we need all these series because they thought good life lessons unlike what we have in today world where pornography is more of the scenes on today series.
I was glad when on Sunday night of 4th June, when watching Jara on DSTV though tuned in late, and the presenters (Uti Nwachukwu and Helen Paul) were discussing countdown on drama series which they do not only talk about current movies but included some very old ones from the above mentioned. We need these old series if NTA can help with a re-show of some of these if not all, I think our children will learn positive morals rather than negative attitude being inculcated in them through today’s series which are contrary to what we had in the old days.
Hey all, especially literature students in West Africa, remembered the book – The Good Woman of Setzuan?
